Stump grinding in Iver

Stump grinding and removal in Iver

Stump grinding in Iver is quoted around the stump, the route into the garden and what the cleared space needs to become. We agree the depth and finish before work starts.

Grinding is not full root excavation

A stump grinder reduces the visible stump and accessible root flare into small wood fragments. It does not normally remove every root extending beneath the garden. The useful depth depends on whether the space is becoming lawn, planting, paving or part of another agreed job.

Full excavation is different. Where construction, drainage or foundations need a particular root-removal detail, that requirement must be identified separately. Woodside can carry out the stump work stated in the quote but does not provide underground-service detection, engineering advice or land surveys.

Check surfaces and the entire access route

A machine may need to pass between the house and boundary before it reaches the stump. Measure the narrowest clear width, then show turns, steps, drainpipes and changes in level. The gate width alone is not enough when the route tightens further inside the property.

At the stump, paving, brick edging, glass, stones and old metal fixings need to be identified. People and pets remain outside the work area. HSE guidance requires an effective exclusion zone because the cutting wheel can throw debris even during a controlled operation.

Photos, depth and clean-up

Send the stump at its widest point with a tape measure for scale. Add the ground around it and the complete access from the road. Say how the area will be used afterwards and whether visible surface roots are included. Count and photograph multiple stumps separately.

Clean-up is included. The quote records the agreed grinding depth and what happens to grindings and remaining timber. Reinstatement, new paving or landscaping is only included where it is written into the job rather than assumed from the stump removal.
