Hedge trimming and removal in Slough

A maintenance trim removes the current extension growth and follows the established face. A reduction lowers the top or brings an overgrown side back towards a chosen line. Complete removal cuts out the hedge and may involve separate stump or root work. These lead to different results, so the quote should not describe all three as hedge cutting.

Some old hedges have little green growth behind the outside layer. Cutting hard into bare wood can leave a brown face that may not refill quickly. Species, condition and the amount of live growth affect what result is realistic. We agree the target height and faces, and identify any section that needs separate treatment.

Confirm which hedge belongs to the property and whether both sides can be reached. A shared boundary, neighbour's planting or fence hidden inside the growth can limit what is cut from one side. Active wild-bird nests are protected by law. Hedge work must avoid damaging or destroying a nest while it is in use or being built. The practical check is the hedge itself, not a fixed calendar date. If an active nest is found, the work area or timing may need to change.

Send photographs showing the full length, both ends and the space beside the hedge. Include the approximate length and current height, the height you want left, the narrowest access and any steps. For removal, show the base and say whether the stumps need separate grinding.

Clean-up is included. The quote records how hedge cuttings and woody material will be handled. A long hedge can produce more volume than its clipped face suggests, and a narrow route can slow how that material leaves the garden. Those details are considered before the price is agreed.
