Stump grinding and removal in Windsor

Grinding reduces the visible stump and accessible root flare below an agreed level. It does not usually excavate every root crossing the garden. The useful depth depends on whether the space will become lawn, planting, paving or part of another construction job.

The quote records stump width, height and grinding depth. It also states whether visible surface roots form part of the job. Full root excavation, underground-service location and engineering advice are separate matters. Woodside carries out the listed stump work but does not provide land surveys.

A gate may be wider than the passage beside the house. Measure clear width at ground level and around drainpipes, steps, handles and tight turns. Show the route surface too. A tracked machine still needs firm support and room to pass without striking the wall or fence.

Photograph the stump with a tape across its widest point, then include paving, glass and planting nearby. Known metal, stone and buried obstacles need identifying. HSE guidance calls for an effective exclusion area because a stump grinder can throw debris even when the cutting head is guarded.

Grinding produces a mix of wood fragments and soil. Clean-up is included, but the quote states whether grindings remain, are spread elsewhere or are removed as part of the work. The hole and surrounding level should match the written finish rather than an assumption made after cutting.

Paving, planting and landscaping are only included where listed. For more than one stump, number and photograph each one. Two stumps of similar diameter can require different work where one sits beside a wall and the other has an open route from the drive.
